Over time, numerous national and even European premieres have been recorded in Timisoara. Here are the most important premieres, presented chronologically:
1718 – attestation of the oldest brewery in Romania;
1728 – the beginning of the canalization of the oldest waterway in Romania, Bega;
1760 – the first city of the Habsburg monarchy with the streets lit by lamps;
1771 – the first newspaper in the present territory of Romania / the first German newspaper in south-east Europe, Temeswarer Nachrichten;
1854 – the first city in the present territory of Romania, with telegraphic service;
1855 – the first city of the Habsburg monarchy with the streets lit with gas;
1881 – the first city in the present territory of Romania, with a telephone network;
1884 – the first city in mainland Europe with electrically lit streets (731 lamps);
1886 – the first rescue station in Hungary and Romania;
1895 – the first city in the present territory of Romania, with asphalted streets;
1897 – the first city in the present territory of Romania in which cinematographic projections were made;
1899 – the first city in the present territory of Romania, with electric tram.
